Badminton on Sea
The client wanted to evoke a coastal feeling in their garden. The idea was to section off parts of the garden for a turfed play area, a water feature/patio area and spaces for beds with nearshore shrubs and planting. All these elements were linked by curves and paving that created a flow between the spaces. A sense of the seashore was further elicited by a pebbled area in front of the patio and various timber features in the garden.
Below is a 2D plan of the garden to show how the space would be organised. This was complimented by a hand-drawn (brush and ink) isometric projection to give the client a more expressive and three-dimensional impression of the end result.

Alfresco Kitchen and Dining Area
The proposal for this garden in Cashes Green was to create a driveway with an electric gate through which vehicles could enter. The remaining space in the corner was made use of by its transformation into a sheltered outdoor kitchen/dining area complete with a fireplace and chimney – a space where the clients could entertain their guests on balmy summer evenings or whip up something hot on a cooler autumn night.
The two-dimensional plan showed the client how the space would thread together and the three-dimensional brush and ink drawing helped the client visualise the gate’s movement and appearance of the kitchen area.

Walled Pond and Fountain
The concept for this Cotswold stone pond was to create a rustic and tranquil water feature on the lawn. The idea for its construction was to make is appear as if the walling thrusted out from the lawn, extending the architecture of the house’s facade into the garden. Below is an ink and brush illustration that helped the client visualise the water feature. The drawing also incorporates suggestions for mixed-height flower beds to enliven the front of the house and add colour to the garden.
